Meeting at the Palazzo Comunale

Welcome the students and to introduce the teachers and staff.
There will be a guided tour of the town and an assessment test to sort students into the correct levels of Italian language classes.
Afterwards, accompanists will meet with the musical director.

There will be an excursion to Urbino, site of the historic Montefeltro Ducal Palace and the birthplace of the famous High Renaissance painter Raffaello Sanzio (mostly known as Raffael or Raphael), not to mention the great gelato!

Saturday morning, June 11


Singers meet with accompanists to rehearse Mock Audition selections.
Saturday afternoon and evening, the musical director will conduct a sing-through of our opera scenes repertoire.

Excursion to the beach in Pesaro (hometown of Gioacchino Rossini), where the prestigious Gioacchino Rossini Opera Festival, is held annually.

Master Classes and Activities

There will be three master classes in which selected singers from the Mock Auditions will perform. The clinicians will be:
• June 15, “Audition for Success!” A special training seminar and master class conducted by the distinguished soprano June Card.
• June 26, world-renowned Italian bel canto tenor William Matteuzzi. Please google him to learn more about this fantastic singer, his career and his recordings.
• June 30, Donald George, Professor of Voice at SUNY, author of Master Singers: Advice from the Stage, impressive resume and recordings at

Students will perform in two public concerts during the four weeks of our program. Friday, June 24 and Thursday, July 7. After each concert, Scuola Italia invites the performers to a late supper.
