Daily Schedule

OperaMeeting at the Palazzo Comunale
Thursday, June 11 at 3:00 pm, to welcome the students and to introduce the teachers and staff. There will be a guided tour of the town and an assessment test to sort students into the correct levels of Italian language classes. Afterwards, accompanists will meet with the musical director.

Excursion
Friday, June 12, there will be an excursion to Urbino, site of the historic Montefeltro Ducal Palace and the birthplace of the famous High Renaissance painter Raffaello Sanzio (mostly known as Raffael or Raphael), not to mention the great gelato!
Saturday morning, June 13, singers meet with accompanists to rehearse Mock Audition selections.
Saturday afternoon and evening, June 13, the musical director will conduct a sing-through of our opera scenes repertoire.

Mock Auditions
Sunday, June 14, beginning at 2:00 pm on the stage of Teatro Zuccari.

Italian Language Classes start
Monday, June 15 at 9:00 am to 12:15 pm with a break of 20 minutes.

Language Course and Musical and Staging Rehearsals Monday - Friday
9:00 am - 12:15 pm Intensive Italian Language Course
2:00 pm - 7:30/8:00 pm Voice Lessons, Italian Diction Training, Opera Staging Rehearsals, Ensemble Rehearsals, Solo Rehearsals, Individual Coachings

Master Classes and Activities

There will be three master classes in which selected singers from the Mock Auditions will perform. The clinicians will be:

  • World-renowned Italian bel canto tenor William Matteuzzi, June 28. Please google him to learn more about this fantastic singer, his career and his recordings.
  • Donald George, July 2. Professor of Voice at SUNY, author of Master Singers: Advice from the Stage, impressive resume and recordings at www.donaldgeorge.de
  • “Audition for Success!” A special training seminar/master class conducted by the distinguished soprano June Card, June 17.

Concerts
Students will perform in two public concerts during the four weeks of our program. Friday, June 26 and Thursday, July 9. After each concert, Scuola Italia invites the performers to a late supper.

Saturday - Sunday
Free for Excursions, Rest, Sport, or Fun!

Saturday, July 4
Excursion to the beach in Pesaro (hometown of G. Rossini), where the prestigious Gioacchino Rossini Opera Festival is held annually.
