Daily Schedule

OperaMeeting at the Palazzo Comunale
Thursday, June 6 at 3:00 pm, to welcome the students and to introduce the teachers and staff. There will be a guided tour of the town and an assessment test to sort students into the correct levels of Italian language classes. Afterwards, accompanists will meet with the musical director.

Friday, June 7, there will be an excursion to Urbino, site of the historic Montefeltro Ducal Palace and the birthplace of the great High Renaissance painter Raffaello Sanzio (mostly known as Raffael), not to mention the great gelato!
Saturday morning, June 8, singers meet with accompanists to rehearse Mock Audition selections.
Saturday afternoon and evening, June 8, the musical director will conduct a sing-through of our opera scenes repertoire.

Mock Auditions
Sunday, June 9, beginning at 2:00 pm on the stage of Teatro Zuccari.

Italian Language Classes start
Monday, June 10 at 9:00 am to 12:15 pm with a break of 20 minutes.

9:00 am - 12:15 pm Intensive Italian Language Course and Diction Training
2:00 pm - 7:30/8:00 pm Voice Lessons, Italian Diction, Opera Staging Rehearsals, Ensemble Rehearsals, Solo Rehearsals, Individual Coachings

Master Classes and Activities

There will be two master classes in which selected singers from the Mock Auditions will perform. The clinicians will be:

  • World-renowned Italian bel canto tenor William Matteuzzi, June 23. Please google him to learn more about this fantastic singer, his career and his recordings.
  • Donald George, June 13. Professor of Voice at SUNY, author of Master Singers: Advice from the Stage, impressive resume and recordings at www.donaldgeorge.de
  • “Audition for Success!” A special training seminar conducted by the distinguished soprano June Card.

Students will perform in two public concerts during the four weeks of our program. Friday, June 21 and Thursday, July 4. After each concert, Scuola Italia invites the performers to a late supper.

Excursion to the beach in Pesaro (hometown of G. Rossini), where the prestigious lyrical event, the Gioacchino Rossini Opera Festival, is held annually.
